Design-Led Metal Mesh For Facades And Interiors

Velp has expanded its architectural metal mesh collection, adding hand woven brass mesh, fine 1.8 mm and 2.0 mm wire lattice sheets, and made-to-order decorative panels. The range targets architects, facade engineers and interior contractors who need a metal skin that performs as a screen while remaining visually refined.

Architectural mesh differs from industrial mesh in one essential way: appearance is a specification, not a by-product. Velp therefore controls weave consistency, wire straightness, surface finish and panel flatness as separate inspection points before shipment.

New And Existing Constructions

• Hand woven brass mesh - cable and rod reinforced weave in brass and copper alloys for lobby screens, elevator cladding and premium retail interiors.
• Fine wire lattice - 1.8 mm and 2.0 mm wire in plain weave, lock crimp and flat top patterns for balustrades and partition panels.
• Rigid metal fabric - pre-crimped mesh in stainless steel for exterior sunshades where wind load matters.
• Cable and rod systems - tensioned mesh assemblies with stainless steel cables, turnbuckles and mounting brackets.

Performance Notes For Project Teams

Velp works with design teams on three recurring questions: open area, deflection and fixing strategy. Open area determines shading and visibility, and can be tuned by adjusting wire diameter against aperture. Deflection under wind load depends on panel span, cable tension and mesh rigidity. Fixing strategy affects both cost and the visual rhythm of the facade.

The company supplies shop drawings, sample panels and, where required, structural calculation references for tensioned systems. For exterior use, SS316 or PVD-coated stainless is recommended in coastal environments; brass and copper are usually specified indoors or under cover where patina development is acceptable.
